Meet Alisa Loeblein- Master DJ

Born and raised in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota Alisa has also lived in Bangor, Maine, and Kalamazoo, Michigan before moving to Cincinnati in 2009. She got her start DJing for house parties back in college, and for women’s hockey tournaments (when she wasn’t playing in them).  Even before that, she was making mixtapes from recording songs off of the radio before she was a teenager, and dug into her parent’s vinyl collection as soon as she could walk.  While working in different occupations, her co-workers would always comment on how she seemed to know every lyric to every song that might be playing at the time.   She always wanted to be in control of what was playing, and was always very aware of what would get the crowd pumped up and dancing. Alisa prides herself in being able to ‘read’ a room quite well. She kept getting asked to DJ again and again, and finally decided to make a career out of it.
Her favorite DJ influence would be The Magnificent DJ Jazzy Jeff.  Musically, she loves everything from classical (played violin for nine years), to 70s era ABBA (grandfather owned all of their vinyl, and always played it for her growing up), to 80s/90s pop and rock from Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, to Ozzy and Metallica, to all kinds of hip-hop/rap, and trap music from old school to today (2pac, Biggie, LL Cool J, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Fetty Wap).  Her favorite music to play is whatever will get the crowd dancing!  she says, “I’m not enjoying the music even if it’s my favorite song but no one else likes it.”  When she’s at home, she enjoys scratching on turntables and mixing mostly hip-hop, with some 80’s pop thrown in. Her identity as ‘DJ Blayde’ was born out of her hockey and rollerblading background, and is kind of her hip-hop turntable scratching persona outside of the wedding DJ circuit.
When Alisa is not in the DJ booth you will find her cheering for any Minnesota sports team including the Vikings, Wild, and U of Minnesota Gophers.  You may also find her rescuing Guinea pigs.  Alisa works to coordinate transport for a guinea pig rescue near Louisville, KY.  Alisa comes from a family of nurses and doctors, so she had to give the medical field a try working as a Surgical Technologist for 2 years.  During her medical stint, she was so obsessed with what music was playing in the OR, that surgeons would have her make mix CDs for them to play while working.
